Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The antidote to vapid genre. This book is brimming with three generations of heartbreak, endurance, strangled dreams, and quiet, unyielding hope. The overarching question, which is the main point of suspense, is how a hardworking and solitary teenage girl drowned in the town lake. While this central premise keeps the pages turning, the real story rises and it is achingly beautiful: how a girl’s death can shatter an already broken family and reforge them into something whole.
